Hello

I’m Daniel. Thanks for following this link. I have something to share and something to ask you for.

What I’m doing

For the first time, I’m going to join a group of cyclists riding from San Francisco to Los Angeles. I’m excited about next month’s ride and a bit anxious too. I’m training hard and dreaming of the sights along the ride and the dynamics of this group effort. I’m also immersed in what this is all about.

How I got here

The street I’ve lived on since childhood is cyclist friendly and you can bet I was watching. Growing up as a musician I learned about many people in the industry, one of them was Jeff Castelaz, then founder of Dangerbird Records who was signing all the local talent.

What I didn’t know was that years later, when I took the leap from a “regular bike” to a real one, Jeff’s name would come up again at Velo Studio, a bike shop in Toluca Lake. Velo lead me down the street to join The Sweet Ride, organized by Alex Eusebio chef/owner of Sweet Salt Food Shop, another avid rider.

Call it luck, coincidence, or synchronicity, I’ve found myself in a village of bike riders supporting a cause bigger than myself. It just feels right.

What you can do

Go to the Pablove Across America website and make a donation supporting my ride. Every bit helps me reach my goal, which in turn helps Pablove’s fight against childhood cancer.

What is Pablove

The Pablove Foundation funds pediatric cancer research and supports cancer children and their family’s quality of life. It was born from six-year-old Pablo Thrailkill Castelaz’s lost battle with cancer. His mom, Jo Ann and dad, Jeff started the foundation in his honor. You can read the mission and learn more about Pablove and the variety of foundation events at www.pablove.org.

And, the Details

Pablove Across America is one of Pablove’s many events funding the battle against children’s cancer and began in 2009 when Jeff rode from Florida to Los Angeles. Originally planned as a victory ride, he made the challenging trek in memory of his son.

This year marks the fifth annual ride to “…fight childhood cancer with love, one pedal stroke at a time.” Riders will pedal from San Francisco to Los Angeles during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, October 6 – 12th.
